By the end of six months, he generated a six-figure income. * He learned how to build a portfolio of mostly commercial properties. Now he teaches people how to do what he did. * “"Your story isn’t over. It’s just beginning. How you invest your time today will determine what tomorrow looks like. " * Something inside of him just wouldn’t give up because of his strong sense of responsibility. * Before he and his wife had their physical challenges, J was a financial planner. He came to realize that no matter how many investments a person had, the key to having enough for retirement is real estate investments. * “Life offers all of us an excuse and reasons to quit. I guess I just wasn’t willing to quit.” * If someone suggests something for you to do, but you don’t know how it can happen, say yes and learn what you have to learn. * Subject to Investing is the method J used to buy his first house, which took a lot of attempts before he closed a deal. * J shares how he got money for his first investments. * “If you build the person, the person will build the business.:” * “Wealth is team sport.” What is the team you need to build around you? * “Being attached to the outcome ruins a lot of entrepreneurs.” Links: CashFlowDiaryBook.com (http://CashFlowDiaryBook.com%20)– Get J’s book for just the cost of postage and handling J’s membership site (http://CashFlowDiary.com/training) Cash Flow Diary Podcast (http://cashflowdiary.com/category/podcast/)   SugarScience.org (http://SugarScience.org) - lots of information about the harmful effects of sugar. Do you have the courage to speak your truth? Do you have the courage to really be you? Being interviewed on other podcasts has given me a whole new perspective on my work and has given me the confidence to speak more honestly about what I know to be true. Highlights * How do we make our lives work? Is there something within us that creates our life stories? * There is so much more to us than we can perceive with our three-dimensional minds. When we realize there is more, we can create our lives from a more peaceful place. * When we try to describe something that exists in other dimensions, we are using three-dimensional language, so it can’t be accurate. * We all have the power of creation within us, and when we are aware that we are a part of a whole, we can accomplish more. * Our perception of the real rules for living is often limited. * If we all understand our connection and work together, our lives can be a lot more pleasant. * Each one of us has something unique to bring to the world, and every one of your life experiences has made you who you are. * What has happened to you and what you have done is not good or bad, it’s just what you’ve done, and you have the option of asking, “Is this what I want to keep on doing, or do I want to do it differently?” * As people get older, then tend to take fewer chances. * What if we aren’t stuck in three-dimensional reality? * If you see yourself as anything but special, you aren’t seeing the truth of you. * When we open our minds to that which lies beyond what we think is real, we enhance our lives in incredible ways. * What are you hiding about yourself that you are afraid to let out? * Once we say out loud who we are, then we can be free from a lot of our life struggles. Highlights * Greg shares his background in politics and how he switched to Wall Street. “I was tired of being poor.” * Greg’s view of Wall Street has positive aspects, especially the activities he is involved with now. * Since the financial crisis people are making a lot of money, except it isn’t filtering down to the average person, especially for those who need interest income, such as retired people. * Marketplace lending, which is what peer to peer investing is, is providing an avenue for people to get better interest rates on their investments. * Efficient, transparent way for individuals to generate a higher rate of return than traditional sources. * Greg explains who peer to peer investing (and borrowing) works. * A lot of peer to peer rules are set up on the state level, which is why in some states, like New Mexico, residents can’t be investors. * com only accepts accredited investors, which allows for people in all states to participate. * People come to P2P for a number of reasons including consolidation of credit card debt, to fund a small business, to make home improvements,, pay for medical billis, etc. * com doesn’t just look at credit scores, they evaluate a person’s entire situation. * Although the number varies, less than 50% of loan applications are actually funded. * The default rate is in the low single digits. * The big banks are in a bind. The polititians are telling them they need to lend more. At the same time, regulators are telling them not to lend and to get their houses in order. * Once the cost of money is normalized, there will be more changes implemented on Wall Street. * Dirivitis can be used as weapons of mass destruction. Part of the problem was that people didn’t understand the financial instruments they were selling. * P2P lending is creating new financial opportunities. * Greg believes that a lot of young people have an interest in reinventing the financial services industry and creating better ways of doing things. If you are a crafter, be sure to listen. Don’t just worry about your finances, take action! Highlights * My pleasant experience selling a mic and router on Amazon.com. * My vision of “a factory called America with a sewing machine in every house” and an unusual experience relating to craft cooperatives. * A friend of mine who sells on Amazon and grosses millions of dollars each year. * If you are resourceful and keep your eyes open, you don’t have to have your own products in order to make money online. * People who have lost jobs and worry about making enough money can sell things online through the many sites set up that anyone can use. * There’s always a way of taking goods that people aren’t using and recycling them for a profit. * Open your eyes to opportunities for creating an income stream. * Keep track of the extra money that comes in so you can create strategies. * Taking care of your money can minimize financial fear. * If you are concerned about your finances, figure out ways of making more while working on your inner environment. * Action is essential, as is keeping track of your money. * It’s a good idea to research investment ideas before you get a lot of money so you don’t make a lot of impulsive mistakes when the money comes in. I have always been impressed with his uncanny knack for writing persuasively and how he uses words to grab a reader’s attention, boost response to record rates, and transform floundering businesses into moneymaking machines. In the last few years alone, he has been instrumental in selling over a hundred million dollars worth of products and services for a wide variety of clients representing hundreds of different and unrelated industries. His most notable success is one of his salesletters, which sold a $1.08 million online on the first day. Highlights * Michel shares how he got into writing copy and how Asperger syndrome affected his life. * Because he has problems with face-to-face encounters, the Internet is the perfect place for Michel to interact with people. As a result, he has developed excellent social media skills and uses them to test out material and attract clients. * We talked about how he reacts to a lot of bad copy that appears on websites. The number one problem, as Michel sees it, is the lack of connection between the writer and audience. * The one skill a copywriter needs is how to connect to your market. The more you can learn about your market, the easier it is to find out what to write about. * A lot of copy doesn’t flow easily. * Michel is a fan of Copyblogger.com (http://copyblogger.com) * It’s important to learn how to sell in order to write effective websites. Michel constantly learns by listening to audiobooks. * If you write your own copy, you have to learn to dissociate from yourself. * How he gets information for the copy he’s writing. * When writing copy, use case histories instead of straight testimonials. * How the Internet has “killed” the long sales letter. He is now writing more copy for video sales letters.  Links: Michel’s Blog: http://michelfortin.com (http://michelfortin.com) Website: Workaholics4Hire.com (http://workaholics4hire.com/) Michel on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/michelfortin) Michel on Twitter (https://twitter.com/michelfortin) Basic writing course on Copyblogger.com (%20http://my.copyblogger.com/basic/copywriting-101-ebook/) Michel’s The Death of the Sales Letter (http://michelfortin.com/the-death-of-the-salesletter/) Joan’s YouTube Channel (http://youtube.com/moneymuscles)   (http://prosperityplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Michel-fortin-150x150.jpg) Joan Sotkin: Holistic Business and Money Coach no 40:54
