A few weeks ago, I got a call from a man who lives in a retirement community in California who read my book Starting Your Own Business.

Mike told me that quite a few of the retirees in the community were interested in learning about starting a business because many of them still needed to create income in order to live comfortably.

The plight of the retirees is just one symptom of how people have to adapt to changing economic conditions in the US and other countries. Economic survival often requires a shift in focus.

Although shifting to a small business mindset after having a job for many years takes concentrated effort and creative action, with the proper guidance, creating a successful venture is within the realm of possibility.

Creating Strong Income Streams

It’s a fact that you can do a lot of growth work involving your money mindset as you examine and alter the beliefs and emotions determining your financial position. But if you don’t create strong streams of income, you will have a difficult time reaching your financial potential.

Mike’s call came at the same time I realized that I want to include more business-building and online marketing information as part of what I teach. This is the practical, real-world part of prosperity.

In the next few days, I’m going to ask you to participate in a survey in order to determine how I can best serve the needs of those of you who are thinking of starting a business or professional practice, adapting an established venture to current conditions, or hoping to build a more effective online presence.

Your answers to the survey question will help me develop easy-to-understand products and Webinars that can help you grow and thrive, such as the Website Basics Webinar I gave a few months ago. Your answers will also guide me as to what kind of discussions we can stimulate on my Facebook page so you can interact with people who share your interests.

A Major Secret to Success

Sharing both your concerns and knowledge with others is a secret that every successful business owner understands. The burgeoning popularity of all kinds of social networks, both online and off, makes getting the support and information you need in order to prosper easy and inexpensive.

For today, I’d like to ask you a few questions and suggest that you write down the answers so you can clarify the direction in which you want to move:

1. If money and time were no object, what kind of business or professional service would you like to build in order to earn more money.

2. If you already have a going venture, how much time and effort are you willing to invest in order to take your business or professional practice to the next level?

3. What do you feel is your greatest personal impediment to moving forward financially?

4. What kind of networking or participating in social networks are you doing now?

Like many of you, I’ve been finding ways to adapt to what has become a new and evolving financial reality. Although often difficult or confusing as the world economic and political systems go through turbulent shifts, new opportunities keep opening up for those who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and let go of the past.

This is a time of enormous possibility. As the old systems heave before they crumble, we all have the option of being active participants in creating a world powered by love, compassion, and cooperation.

Not a task for the faint of heart, moving fully forward into this new paradigm takes focus, courage, and the willingness to step into the unknown. It also requires faith in a positive future and an understanding that some of our greatest achievements often emerge from difficult and confusing times.

And one more thing. Action is required. What can you do to contribute to bringing this world into being? Here are some things to think about:

1. Set a clear intention of what you want to create for yourself and your family, not in terms of money, but in terms of an emotional experience. For example, “I intend to let go of worry and anxiety and replace them with inner peace and faith in myself and my future.”

2. Replace self-criticism with self-love. When you do this, you add positive energy to the consciousness of the planet. Read Love Yourself Exercises

3. Give your body/mind the high-quality fuel it needs for optimal performance. Each week, make at least one new healthy food choice such as replacing a sugary dessert with a piece of ripe fruit. (Download the free e-book Nourish Yourself for Health & Happiness)

4. Exercise. Something as simple as a brisk, 20-minute walk will produce endorphins, those wonderful brain chemicals that lift your mood. Plus, the exercise has enormous benefits for your health.

5. Let go of “rugged individualism,” which is a passé concept. Joint ventures and collaboration boost your abilities to succeed.

6. Ask for help. You will feel less alone and more connected.

7. Do something special for yourself.

8. Reach out to someone who is hurting. Your caring can make a big difference to someone feeling isolated and alone.

9. Recycle and reuse. Our throwaway society hurts the planet and our environment. Help the planet heal by using and wasting less.

10. Acknowledge others and yourself for a job well done.

11. Let go of judgments of yourself and others. When you hear yourself judging someone else, say to yourself, “I am grateful for the gift of every moment.”

12. Live in gratitude. Every day find at least five things to be grateful for.

13. Stop complaining. Complaining is a waste of time and accomplishes nothing. Instead, look for solutions to your problems.

14. Learn something new every day. The Internet is an incredible resource for learning new information and developing new skills.

15. Meditate for at least 15 minutes a day. You will find meditation instructions on ProsperityPlace.com

16. Listen to birds singing.

17. Face your fears. (FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real.)

18. Be the change you wish to see.

If you’d like to add anything to this list, you can do so on ProsperityPlace.com or on myFacebook Page, where you can find this article posted.

There’s no doubt about the fact that healthcare costs are out of control and millions of people are suffering financially or going bankrupt because of these rising costs.

When I Googled “How to lower health care costs,” most of the advice is about how to make deals with doctors and hospitals. But, there’s another way to lower your health care costs – preserve your health.

Chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, lung cancer, and stroke can, in most cases, be prevented or cured by making healthy lifestyle choices.

A serious side effect of making such choices is that you will live longer and be happier – much better than the side effects often listed on ubiquitous television commercials. You can also increase your potential for financial success when you feel good.

For years, I suffered from a long list of physical and emotional problems including depression, chronic fatigue, bronchitis, frequent colds, sinus headaches, and more. When I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia in 1973, I gave up sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and high carbohydrate foods and committed to a healthier way of living. Now, I’m healthier and have more energy than many people I know who are 20 years younger than I am.

Making significant lifestyle changes is not easy. It’s so much easier to dine on fast foods or avoid exercising than to eat fresh, whole foods and take a daily walk. But the rewards are enormous.

If you’re serious about prosperity, take a look at your lifestyle choices and make some changes.

Take Baby Steps

Making many changes quickly rarely works. Just think about the many people who lose weight on a diet and gain the weight back later.

The best way to make lasting change is to choose one small item and gradually change it. No matter what your current state of health, there are probably actions you can take to improve your chances for avoiding or reversing chronic illness. Here are some suggestions:

1. Breathe. Develop the habit of taking 10 deep diaphragmatic breaths every day. This simple action can help you lower stress and tension, tone your origins, aid digestion, strengthen your immune system, improves stamina and more.

2. Move your body. By now, you’ve heard that exercise matters. If you don’t already exercise at least 20 min. a day, start with just a few minutes of walking and gradually builds up to longer periods. The best way to do this is with someone else. Studies show that walking with someone else increases the benefits of exercise.

3. Read the labels on your food and drinks. If you can’t pronounce one of the ingredients, don’t eat it. Also, add up total grams of sugar and added salt you consume each day. Keep in mind that 28.4 grams of sugar equal 2 tablespoons and 2300 milligrams of salt is one teaspoon, which is more than you need each day.

4. Meditate. To function well in our stress-inducing society, daily meditation can be an enormous help. Sitting quietly for just 10 to 20 min. a day can be an enormous help.

Years ago, I had a client who had a net worth of $5 million. He wanted coaching so that he could build his net worth to $10 million because he believed that with $10 million he would be happy and satisfied.

I explained to him that if he wasn’t happy and satisfied with $5 million, chances were that no matter how much money he had he would feel exactly as he did at that moment. I suggested we work on helping him develop a satisfaction habit. That wasn’t what he wanted to hear. He just wanted $10 million.

In contrast, a friend of mine just returned from Tibet. He described the intense poverty of the people he saw who were happy and generally satisfied with their lives despite lacking what you and I would consider essentials.

In the United States, and I assume in other developed parts of the developed world, we are taught to always want more than we have. Ads for cars, electronic devices, and luxury trips permeate the airwaves – along with endless commercials for antidepressants, pain medications, and a host of other remedies for illnesses often caused by stress.

More of Some Things Can Be Good

Because we have been trained to reach for more than we have, you can use the wanting-more habit to develop peace of mind and prosperity. How?

You can focus on developing more gratitude, authentic relationships, more patience, and more kindness.

You can train yourself to meditate more, do more service, give more to those in need.

You can exercise more, eat more healthy foods, and take better care of yourself.

You can love, accept, acknowledge, and appreciate yourself more.

You can learn to the more satisfied with who you are and your place in the world.

More Money Doesn’t Fix It

I often hear, “if only I had more money, everything would be okay and I could feel happy, secure, and free.” Studies show that people who earn more than $50,000 a year are no more happy than those who earn $50,000.

After talking to dozens of financial advisors and people I know who would qualify to be in the 1%, it’s clear that money doesn’t create happiness, security, or freedom. As matter of fact, the more money a person has the more fear they are likely to deal with – because they have so much to lose.

In an interview, Warren Buffett was asked how he defines wealth. His answer was that he measures wealth by how much love a person has in their life. He said he knows a lot of rich people who aren’t wealthy because they’re very alone.

Develop a Satisfaction Habit

People are often afraid to be satisfied with what they have because they fear that if they are okay with what they have, they will never have more. But here’s the paradox: the more satisfied you are with what you have the more likely you are to have more – if you really want it.

In my experience, once people develop a satisfaction habit, they often feel more relaxed and comfortable with who they are and their place in the world. They begin to reevaluate their goals, often with the realization that what they have is really enough or that there’s no reason to try to be like someone else.

Develop More Peace of Mind and Prosperity Will Follow

Giving up wanting more require conscious effort and intention. Here’s a good place to start:

Every day, take a few moments to think about what you’re grateful for.

Once a day, meditate for 10 to 20 minutes. In the Free Stuff section, you will find a downloadable e-book with simple instructions for how to meditate.

When you hear yourself thinking that you need more of something, ask yourself what it is you really need. If you think you need more money, you probably need more people. The craving for money is often a symptom of aloneness.

Also, consider joining the Peace of Mind and Prosperity Program so you can learn the skills you need in order to experience both inner peace and prosperity.

Watch this TED Talk by Shawn Achor who shares this view.

How often do you think about money? Most people think – or obsess – about money fairly often. Even people who have what would seem to be a lot of money think or worry about money many times a day. It seems strange that we spend so much of our time thinking about something that by itself has no value at all. Money’s value lies in the importance that we give it.

Over the years, as I have been transforming my financial situation, I have had to look at why some people are comfortable with their money and others aren’t. My conclusion is that like anything else in our lives, our financial situation is a reflection of our thoughts, beliefs and emotions (TBEs).

Money is an energy of exchange. It is energy that passes between two people. When people exchange money for goods or services, they are having a business or financial relationship. Therefore, money is a symbol of relationships, and the way you deal with money is the same as the way you deal with your relationships.

Let me rephrase that: Money is energy passing between two people, and how you deal with money is how you deal with your relationships – with yourself and with others.

Just as you have feelings about people relationships, you have money feelings, and they are usually similar to your other relationship feelings. As a matter of fact, your financial situation is a means for you to express deep feelings. Once you understand which feelings you are expressing through your money, you can work to express those feelings in a healthier manner and change your financial situation.

Think about it –- isn’t financial security a feeling? Some people feel financially secure with very little available cash. Others think they need more even when they have millions in the bank. Financial security has nothing to do with how much you have. It is about how you feel. :

Your relationship with money can tell you a lot about yourself. For example:

If you think other people are going to cheat you financially, you’re afraid of being abused or manipulated.

If you’re stingy, you’re afraid of love/intimacy.

If you are worried about running out of money, you’re afraid of being left alone or of abandoning ourself.

If you never have enough money, it’s because you believe you’re not enough.

If you often say, “I’m broke,” you feel broken or wounded inside.

If you are never able to buy things you want, you feel deprived, usually of love.

If your money is out of control, so are your feelings.

If you need to be rescued financially, you may be feeling needy. alone and unloved

If you often borrow money, you think you deserve more than you receive (emotionally).

If, when you look at your bank balance you feel ashamed, you’re ashamed of yourself.

When you go to buy something and you get a gripping feeling around your heart, you’re feeling like a bad girl or boy.

If money slips through your fingers and you never keep enough for yourself, you don’t think you deserve prosperity.

Some Suggestions

Getting in touch with your money feelings is important if you want to feel prosperous and financially secure. Use the following techniques to tune into what you are expressing through your money:

1. When you start worrying about money, rephrase the problem in terms of relationships. For example, if you are saying, “I have no money and I’m not generating any clients,” you are probably feeling alone and invalidated. You may be expressing the thought “Nobody loves me.” Or, you may feel disconnected from your Self, which leads to feelings of aloneness.

2. When you are paying bills or buying something, notice what you are feeling. Are you feeling fear? What are you really afraid of? Here again, don’t use the word money in your answer. Try to see what is going on in terms of relationships. If you are afraid of running out of money, it means you are afraid of being alone; you can’t run out of money, you can only run out of people because money is always attached to people!

3. Once you identify the feelings associated with your money, think back to the earliest time that you can remember when you felt the same feelings. Express the feelings to whomever was involved in your life story at the time by writing a letter that you don’t actually send, sharing the feelings with someone else, or with whatever emotional clearing technique works for you.

The idea is to express, as deeply as possible, the feelings you are acting out through your money. If you are afraid to do it alone, share the feelings with someone who can listen to your pain without getting involved. Expressing the feelings will help you change your financial expression.

The book Build Your Money Muscles has detailed instructions for recognizing and releasing uncomfortable money feelings.

One day in 1985, when I was meditating and praying at a spiritual center in Santa Monica, California, I had an experience that turned my life around. At the time, I was having a lot of trouble getting my life to work, and as I prayed I kept pleading with God to change my life. I can remember the cries of “Please God. Please God,” that I kept repeating.

Suddenly, a voice inside of me boomed out, “Joan, no more ‘Please God.’ The Power is within you. Release it!”

For years I had been hearing from various spiritual teachers, “You are the guru,” and “The guru is within you.” The message from the metaphysics I studied was clearly, “You are a master of wisdom.” I understood the concepts, but obviously, I was not living as if they were true.

Instead, I was needy and dependent, often asking my family to rescue me from difficult situations. My physical illnesses were my convenient excuse for not being able to take care of myself.

I knew I had unlimited potential within me and often talked about the business that I would have some day. But someday seemed so far away as I dealt with pain in my physical body and my inability to support myself.

Taking Responsibility

Something happened to me that day in Santa Monica, something that enabled me to understand, deep down inside, that I really could change my life. I suddenly knew that the God Power that I asked to rescue me was not going to fix my life.

It became clear that the God Power was within me. I had to take responsibility for that Power and use it to help myself.

The realization scared me. I soon understood that I was afraid that if I wasn’t being rescued, I’d be alone. It was scary to think that I had to break my dependency on my parents and become a responsible adult. I had to learn to parent myself.

I also understood that as long as I was in a sick, dependent position, I would always be dreaming about my future, but not allowing it to happen. Willingness to accept responsibility for my Power meant being willing to risk failing at whatever I tried to do.

I had no choice but to risk it. Unless I took the step towards my own Power, I would be stuck forever in that never-quite-making-it space that I found so uncomfortable, and I would never be able to experience the health and vitality I knew could be mine.

A Dramatic Change

I did a little ritual the next day to stimulate the start of the new phase of my healing process. I also started affirming, I acknowledge The Power within me and I release it and I am The Power, I am The Light.

Slowly but surely my life began to change. I discovered new therapies for some of my physical problems, and started a business, Joan’s Crystals, that grew faster than I could possibly have imagined. Within a less than a year I had a line of products in 600 stores nationwide, I was mailing out thousands of catalogs and I had an active retail showroom.

There were many tough moments on the way. It would be years before I could honestly say that I was physically, emotionally and financially healthy.

Along the wayI learned to ask for hugs instead of money and to express my feelings in ways other than through my physical body. I did all of the techniques that I have written about.

You Can Do It!

The reason I have told you this story is because if you are struggling to make your life more comfortable, you may find something here that will help you believe, deep down inside, that you are The Power and you are The Light. I hope that you will understand, as I did, that you really do have the power to create whatever you need to become happy and healthy.

You have The Power within you to support yourself on every level and to experience Peace, Love and the Abundance of The Universal Force. You can experience it because you are The Universal Force in action.

All you have to do is believe it!

It isn’t easy to become who you really are because it means developing a whole new set of responses to life. Many of you will choose to stay where you are. But for those of you who are willing to accept the responsibility for The Power within you, the rewards will be endless.

You will experience peace, freedom, comfort and satisfaction. You will also feel loved and accepted. When you accept your Power you are accepting yourself; if you accept yourself, you can love yourself and your life will be a reflection of that love and acceptance.

When you accept your Power, you can never be a victim again. You will feel more in control of your life, and life will happen through you, not to you.

I hope that the information on this website and in my books and tapes can offer you some help and guidance and you travel on your path to total wellness.

Reaching out to others is the most important step anyone can take. The system works best when we understand that we are all in this together. When we support each other we support the whole system.

Financial blocks are caused by old emotions and limiting beliefs. My goal has been to find techniques that allow for the rapid elimination of these blocks so that you can create a comfortable, prosperous life for yourself.

I have been using two techniques in the emerging field of Energy Psychology that can help you quickly and easily overcome your financial blocks. They are Be Set Free Fast (BSFF), developed by Larry Nims, Ph.D. and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), developed by Gary Craig.

Be Set Free Fast (BSFF)

BSFF is a highly focused method for treating virtually any kind of discomfort. This is done by eliminating from your subconscious both self-limiting beliefs and the emotional roots of the discomforts.

The basic theory of BSFF is that your subconscious mind is a faithful servant and will do whatever you tell it. And what you are going to tell it is to use a simple cue word, of your choosing, to eliminate all of the roots of whatever problems you ask it to treat.

BSFF is that simple. However, it does take some finesse to recognize and eliminate all of the roots of your problems. To help you learn to do this, Joan Sotkin, the creator of ProsperityPlace.com, has collaborated with the developer of BSFF, Larry Nims, Ph.D. on a book that will quickly teach you this elegant technique.

Lean more about BSFF and how it can help you physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially.

Learn how to use BSFF for financial issues

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

The basic theory of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is that all negative emotions are caused by a disturbance to your energy system. This is the same energy system that is used by acupuncture practitioners — the meridian system.

When you learn how to use EFT, you will be able to identify the issues that are blocking you from your success. Instructions for EFT have been incorporated into our popular Build Your Money Muscles Program, which focuses on using EFT for financial issues.

Fear is one of the most prevalent emotion that people express abut their financial position. Some are in a panic, others have an underlying fear, or free-floating anxiety, about their financial situation.

On a day-to-day basis, there is often anxiety about not having enough for necessities, either today or in the future. When it’s bill-paying time, panic, dread, and even physical discomfort are not unusual. Taken to the extreme, people contemplate suicide as a way out of their financial problems.

Often, people just can’t see a way out of their financial situation. Feelings of being trapped and frustrated are common. Internal dialog often includes, “What’s the matter with me? Why can’t I get my financial act together when so many other people can?”

Let me assure you that no matter what you level of financial anxiety, there IS a way out.

A powerful antidote for fear is action. Taking action allows you to feel more in control of your situation and you can work towards a solution. As long as you allow fear to paralyze you, nothing will change. If you keep on doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you already have.

Wherever you are now is your habit. You probably have a financial pattern that keeps repeating itself. The goal becomes to break the habit and create a new, healthier habit.

Is it easy? No. You’ve created a groove and your life goes around and around in that groove. Creating a new groove takes a strong willingness to change and the determination to work through your own resistance. The longer you have been in the grove, the more effort it will take to get out of it.

Can you do it quickly? No. It takes time to work through old patterns, and it is a complex process. But if you don’t start, you will never move forward. It’s not as if you have to wait until the process if over to see change. Change happens the minute you start.

There is one thing that I am sure of: if you set your mind to become comfortable financially, and you are willing to work on it a little every day, you can do it.

I’m going to ask you to agree to believe one thing: There is a solution for you and financial comfort and security are possible for you. You don’t have to know how it is going to happen, you just have to agree to believe that it is possible, and then to act as if it will happen.

Here’s where the action part comes in. You are going to get yourself ready for financial success. Some of your actions will appear to have nothing to do with money. That’s because your financial situation is an extension of your thoughts, beliefs and emotions (TBE’s) as well as the energy you generate — in all areas of your life.

While you are working through the process, you will have to deal with the voice inside that is going to try to keep you where you are. Worry and fear will keep coming back.

When you feel yourself starting to worry are give in to fear, it’s time to do something else. After all, the worry and fear are only in your mind. You have the option of filling your mind with something else. When you thoughts are positive fifty-one percent of the time, you are moving in a positive direction.

Here are some actions I suggest you take.

1. Take an inventory of your life and current financial situation. Raise your awareness about where you are so you can evaluate your current position and create a plan for change. Take a good look at your money – your earning and spending. Doing this, no matter what the situation, allows you take control of your financial future.

2. Set realistic goals based on your personal values. This helps you create a strategy for change that will be in tune with who you are — and who you want to become.

3. Learn about money and investments. For a lot of people, this isn’t easy. There seems to be so much to learn. Start with small things such as reading the financial section of a newspaper or magazine. Don’t try to understand everything, just read it to get familiar with the terminology. Ignore the part of you that wants to run away. Wealthy people are familiar with the money world.

4. Clean out the old. Get rid of the clutter in your life that keeps you connected to your past. Make way for a positive future.

5. Talk to successful people and read biographies of those who have overcome obstacles to create success. Be inspired by others who have accomplished what seemed impossible.

6. Connect to other people. You don’t live in a vacuum. Aloneness is one of the greatest contributors to financial fear and discomfort. You may have to overcome a tendency towards isolation. Money comes from people and the more people you connect to, the more apt you are to create a financial flow.

7. If you are in serious financial trouble, see a debt counselor or go to a Debtors Anonymous meeting. At these meetings, they deal with issues such as under-earning, compulsive spending and debting, and other causes for financial discomfort. See the resources at the end of this article for information about DA and meetings, online and off.

8. Say Yes! Get used to saying yes to yourself and seeing things in a positive light. This may mean overcoming years of negative thinking. When you have doubts about where your life is going, assure yourself, “You can do it!”

The fact that you are reading the material on this site means that you are looking for a new way. The steps above will get you started.

Do you ever get the feeling that you are standing on the threshold of success, but can’t step into that place where you feel successful. Or, perhaps you have been successful, only to have your fortunes reversed.

Many factors contribute to success or failure, the most important of which is a person’s state of consciousness. You can’t create and maintain success unless your thoughts, beliefs and emotions are attuned to it. If you have beliefs about yourself, money or what success means that are in opposition to a successful life, you will find it difficult or impossible to create one.

Although many people crave success, they often have limiting beliefs that prevent it. For example, we’ve all heard, “It’s lonely at the top.” When we hear stories of celebrities who suffer from alcoholism, drug abuse and serious emotional problems, we see that success can bring with it many forms of discomfort. Princess Diana was the perfect example of someone who seemed to have everything, but suffered on many different levels — and was alone in the midst of opulence.

When people think of success, they often equate it with financial abundance. But they also know that money often causes as many problems as it cures. In our fantasies, we often see money as a road to freedom. But the fact is, that having money can be an overwhelming responsibility that requires spending a lot of time taking care of it.

Developing a successful business can also be an overwhelming responsibility, one that you may unconsciously avoid. If you’ve never had a successful business, you may be scared away by what you have to learn and your fear of not cleverly implementing plans and strategies.

If you don’t consider yourself successful now and dream of experiencing success, then you know that you have to change your thinking and behavior patterns. Obviously, if you keep on doing what you are doing, you are going to continue getting what you’ve got. The thought of making major changes can be frightening. Also, deciding what changes to make can be a daunting task.

Many people who dream of success, don’t have a clear picture of what success means for them. Eliminating vagueness will help determine a course of action. Take some time with yourself thinking through what your dreams mean in real terms.

For example, I’ve heard many people say they want to build a healing center. Others want to build a business that involves selling and distributing product to a large customer base. Either scenario requires a large capital investment, sophisticated marketing and management skills, and strong drive and determination. If you have grand plans, think them through, and ask yourself if you are really ready to commit to doing everything your vision of success would require.

Perhaps you need to rethink your definition of success and examine what you really want in terms of inner and outer achievement. If material success was all it’s cracked up to be, there would be more happy, “successful” people. It’s not unusual for people who create large sums of money either through their own efforts or through inheritance to feel empty inside. There’s a lot more to success than how much money you make and what you buy with it. Mother Theresa was, in my view, a successful person, yet she owned nothing.

Bottom line is that success is a feeling, not a measurable commodity. Small successes can teach you how to experience and deal with positive outcomes. Instead of aiming for a huge achievement and only accepting its accomplishment as success, reframe your life so that you can feel successful with smaller accomplishments, not all of which involve material acquisition. Teach a child something, give comfort to someone who is sick, create something of beauty, take time to enjoy what you already have. Then look at what you have done and allow yourself to feel successful.

If you work very hard and have such high expectations of yourself that you can never be satisfied with what you do, you will never feel successful. People who are really successful, don’t beat themselves up or blame themselves for everything that doesn’t work out the way they want. An element of success is satisfaction. The process of becoming successful requires that you learn to be satisfied. This often means giving up wanting and longing, two feelings that don’t go with satisfaction.

It’s no wonder that people are afraid of success. To achieve it means a lot of self-examination along with major lifestyle and behavior changes. Success requires discipline, determination and a strong belief in oneself. It’s a whole lot easier to stay where you are than to move into a new state of being.

The fact is that you are already successful. When you can accept this fact, you will be able to expand upon it and live a satisfying, abundant life.

The word prosperity often elicits thoughts of wealth and abundance on a material level. But real and lasting prosperity goes much deeper than our bank accounts. Prosperity is as much about who we are and the personal energy that we generate as it is about our net worth.

Truly prosperous people have a zest for life, faith in their ability to provide for themselves and their families, and a willingness to take some risks. Prosperous people often experience good physical health, emotional stability, inner peace, have many healthy relationships, and feel connected to a greater reality.

Money alone cannot provide these things. High-net-worth people can be afraid of losing what they have, share their wealth grudgingly, deal with multiple physical or mental health problems, have trouble maintaining loving relationships, and trust very few people. They might be wealthy, but they aren’t prosperous.

Therefore prosperity is not about money. It’s more about your personal energy –what you feel and how you interact with your environment. Clear, focused energy that flows freely is more likely to create positive, enjoyable results than muddled, scattered energy characterized by struggles and blockages.

Everything is Energy

The entire physical universe is made up of energy in different forms. Our body/minds are powered by energy and emit enough energy to create an electromagnetic field around us that can be measured and experienced by others.

This energy that flows through us helps to define the quality of our lives and the nature our physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial experiences.

Unrestricted energy flow equals positive experiences. That’s the bottom line.

Therefore in attempting to create prosperity for yourself, adjusting the energy flow through your life can lead to surprisingly satisfying results, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

The Energy You Can Adjust

There are many ways you can adjust and increase your personal energy flow. For example, you can

Improve the quality and regulate the quantity of food you eat – fresh whole foods grown by small, local producers has very different energy than highly processed foods created by huge conglomerates.

Reduce the amount of clutter that prevents energy from flowing freely through your home and office. Blocked energy flow leads to blocked cash flow.

Keep your home, office, and car clean and in good repair.

Surround yourself with things that stimulate positive thoughts and memories. Get rid of things that stimulate unpleasant memories.

Interact with positive, satisfied people who don’t complain and gossip.

Manage your cash flow by keeping track of your money and making conscious financial decisions.

Develop positive inner habits, including thoughts, beliefs, emotions, expectations, and behaviors that are expansive and supportive of who you are today and who would like to become.

Exercise and move your body to stimulate your physical energy systems.

If you were to make one small change from one or more of these areas every day, you can be sure that within nine months to a year you will be in a much more comfortable financial position than you are in now.

However, because who you are now and the energy you generate is habitual, altering your energy flow will require a deep commitment and a willingness to overcome your resistance to change.
